There are three types of oil pumps: in-line type, distribution type and single type. No matter which type, the key to oil pumps lies in the word "pump". The quantity, pressure and time of the oil pump must be very precise, and automatically adjusted according to the load. The oil pump is a component with fine processing and complicated manufacturing technology. The oil pump needs a power source to run, and the camshaft at the bottom of it is driven by the engine crank gear. The key part of the fuel injection pump is the plunger. If you compare it to a syringe commonly used in hospitals, the movable stopper is called the plunger, and the syringe is called the plunger sleeve. Suppose that a spring is installed in the syringe to press one end of the plunger, and the other end of the plunger contacts the camshaft. When the camshaft rotates once, the plunger will move up and down in the plunger sleeve once. This is the basic movement mode of the plunger of the fuel injection pump. The plunger and plunger sleeve are very precise processing parts. There is an inclined groove on the plunger body. There is a small hole on the plunger sleeve called the suction port. This suction port is filled with diesel oil. When the plunger oblique groove faces the suction port, the diesel oil enters the plunger sleeve and the plunger is moved by the camshaft. When the plunger reaches a certain height, the plunger inclined groove and the suction port are staggered, and the suction port is closed, so that the diesel can neither be sucked in nor pressed out. When the plunger continues to rise, the diesel will be pressed, and the pressure of the diesel will be pushed out in one direction from the valves swarm out into the fuel injector, and then from the fuel injector into the combustion chamber of the cylinder. The plunger discharges a certain amount of diesel each time, only part of which is injected into the cylinder, and the rest is drained from the oil return hole, and the amount of fuel injected is adjusted by increasing or decreasing the amount of drained oil.
When the plunger rises to the "upper point" and then moves down, the plunger inclined groove will meet the suction port again, and the diesel will be sucked into the plunger sleeve again, and the above action will be repeated again. Each set of plunger system of the in-line fuel injection pump corresponds to one cylinder, and there are four sets of plunger systems for 4 cylinders, so the volume is relatively large, and it is mostly used in medium-sized and above cars. For example, diesel engines on buses and large trucks generally use in-line fuel injection pumps.
